Beer Dabbler

Bob had tickets to go to the Beer Dabbler this weekend and was surprised that I wanted to accompany him!

The event was held at the Fairgrounds and was WAY bigger that I thought and there were thousands of people there and SO many different breweries that had brought tents with their own taps.

Unfortunately it was too cold for many of the taps and they froze, but some brought portable heaters to keep their lines from freezing!

Bob loved being able to walk around and sample lots of different craft beers….and was more than happy to find things that I enjoyed as well!

There was one tent that had specialty sodas and I tried a Pomegranate that was absolutely delicious!

They had hot air balloon flames which drew in a few people to warm them up!

Our glasses…it was crazy how quickly you had to drink before it froze in the glass!

When we got their I heard over the loudspeaker “Steve J is up skiing now” and sure enough Steve (Bob’s brother) was there skiing for Red Bull! Red Bull has a winch truck that they have a cable attached (like a ski rope from a boat) that pulls the skiers so that they can ski on flat ground!

We were excited to get to see him and enjoyed watching him ski!

This last week was a rough one…Bob and I got hit with a stomach bug and spent 3 days in bed.  It was NOT fun but I am so glad we are both feeling better!

We lived on Pepto, Gatorade, Netflix, and books.

I taught myself how to knit using double pointed needles in between naps….

And finished my first seamless baby hat! SO cute!

Bob and I also trialed the embroidery on my new machine and were both amazed at how easy it was!

For a first time, we were happy with the results!

So after a bummer of a week, we still managed to have fun this weekend (and I worked too!)

American Girl Store

We had our friends the ‘J Family’ come and visit us this weekend and we had such a wonderful time!

We started out at the Mall of America, and Tara and I took the girls to the American Girl Store for an afternoon of fun (Bob and John took the 4 boys to the Verizon store where I think they had just as much fun)

The girls were so excited for their dolls to go to the salon and get their hair done!

They got to select the style they wanted and color of hair ribbon….

Then the doll gets placed in a cute hair salon chair complete with a cape and the magic starts!

Meanwhile, we walked around the store and took in every cute little outfit, doll, and accessory that the store had to offer and then we headed upstairs to the main event…tea!

It was seriously the cutest thing EVER!  The girls got to pick their flavor of tea (or hot chocolate/lemonade) and then were given a craft to complete while we waited for the food.  The food was absolutely adorable!  Everything was so cute and tiny and all were labeled with one of the AG’s names…Caroline’s Home Baked Cookie and Kit’s Mini Pig-In-A-Blanket.

Clarabella absolutely was in heaven!

Annalisa was all smiles as well!

And Annalisa loved the cute cupcakes too!

The dolls each got their own booster chair that attached to the table and little mugs and plates for them to ‘eat’ off of

After tea we went back downstairs to check on the dolls at the salon and Caroline was almost finished!

The girls loved getting to watch!

Clarabella and Caroline after the salon!

Such a sweet picture of Tara with Annalisa 🙂

Admiring her doll’s new hairstyle…I should have taken before and after pictures!

Both girls were just beyond thrilled

The ‘book wall’ was a huge draw for C since she LOVES to read!

We had such a special time and it was so neat to see how excited the girls were for each and every thing!

And while we were having fun in the store, the boys had fun on some rides 🙂 Bob, Aedan, and Noah went on a few rollercoasters and then Noah took Gabriel on a little tamer ride

Winter Fun

I worked this whole weekend…but that didn’t stop Bob from having tons of fun!

Saturday he went out kiteboarding with some friends and had a blast!

I wish I could have been out there watching him (remember last year when I attempted)

But it was fun getting to see the pictures and hear how excited he was when he came home!

On Sunday afternoons we play in a broomball league and have SO much fun.  Although our team has yet to win a game, we were all still smiling after this weeks game!  We both LOVE to play and look forward to Sunday afternoons each week.  Even though I am not that much of a fan of winter, there are select things that I do enjoy…and one of those is broomball!

To soften the blow of a loss, we headed to Sonic to refuel and everyone knows that I LOVE Sonic and that it is a big treat since there isn’t one nearby us at all.  I enjoyed every sip of my Powerade slushie!

Baby Cameron

Bob and I headed down to Missouri to see Misti and Ashton and to meet our nephew for the first time!  Cameron is seriously the cutest baby ever, and we just enjoyed every second of getting to hold and cuddle him!  Of course we also enjoyed spending some quality time with Misti and Ashton too 🙂

I *only* took about 80 pictures throughout the weekend…. 🙂

Bob had never held a newborn before and he was just in love with Cameron…it was SO cute!

Misti and Ashton are such great parents and love him so much!

I am going to try to teach Cameron that the Packers are the best NFL team but I might have some competition with Ashton being a Chiefs fan and Misti likes the Vikings….so it might be tough

This might be my favorite picture…sweet baby with the hat and blanket that I knit for him 🙂

We had such a wonderful time in Missouri and we are both missing Cameron already!

Carrie’s Baby Shower

I was able to fly out to New York for my sister’s baby shower right after Christmas (thanks to my parents!)  My mom and I had been planning for months…and let me tell you it is HARD to plan a baby shower from a different state!

I got some cute new luggage for Christmas and was happy to use it!

My original flight ended up being overbooked but I happily took a ‘bump’ to a direct flight that got in an hour earlier than my original flight plan for a free voucher from the airline!  I was happy to wait a little longer in the MSP airport and headed to my favorite Chick-Fil-A for some dinner (compliments of  Delta and free food vouchers too!)

The sunset was gorgeous as we were flying and I was happy that I could snap this photo on my phone since ‘airplane’ mode is now allowed!

Between all things baby shower, we were able to fit in a quick 3d movie

and my dad experienced 3d for the first time!

Okay…now onto all things baby shower….

We had a basket for guests to write their addresses down for Carrie and Nick

Close up of the sign

Cake pops (homemade by my mom and Carrie with help from myself, Dad, and Nick)

These cookies were the other favor and they turned out so cute!

I had SO much fun planning the decorations, and was happy with how everything turned out!

Washcloth lollipops and the main diaper cake

Diaper cake (we used size 1 Target brand diapers to get the all white look)

Washcloth lollipops (just rolled up baby washcloths tied with cellophane and put on a stick!)

I LOVED these!

Each table had a smaller diaper cake (we originally had used Huggies diapers so 2 of the cakes were not all white but had the Huggies designs and I would definitely recommend buying the Target brand diapers if you are planning on making a diaper cake)

The banner turned out adorable. I cut out individual onesies using a clipart pattern in different pastel colors. Then using my MIL’s Cricut cut the letters out, glued them on using Elmer’s adhesive spray.  Then with tiny clothespins attached them to twine.  The result was adorable!

Up close picture of one of the letters

The banner was probably my favorite decoration from the whole shower.

Baby B got loved on by SO many people!

The shower was held at the Mirabelle Inn in Stony Brook and they had the most amazing brunch ever!

The cake was SO cute and was the best carrot cake I have ever had!

One of the games we played involved making a Play-Doh baby

People took this very seriously

The completed ‘babies’.  Carrie then selected the best one, and the creater won a prize!

Winner!

This baby even had a tiny rubber ducky!

Then it was time for gifts…and oh my goodness did Baby B get some CUTE things!

The guests played Baby Bingo while Carrie and Nick opened gifts. They were given this blank card (I apologize for the screen shot I forgot to take pictures of it) which had a word bank of potential baby gifts at the bottom.  They filled out their card with a baby gift in each square and as Carrie and Nick opened gifts got to mark off a square if the gift matched one of their squares.  It was a fun game and kept people entertained during the gift opening.

Baby B will be able to match his/her daddy in this cute Doctor onesie!

Carrie and Nick were so blessed by their friends and family!

My mom’s hand knit blanket

Carrie picked out the cutest baby bear bedding that will be perfect for either a boy or a girl!  Bob and I got them their stroller (which I didn’t get a picture of but you can see it behind them here)

Nick and his friends from school

Carrie and Kate

Carrie and her friends from work

It was so wonderful being able to celebrate my little niece or nephew but I cannot wait until March when he/she decides to come!

After a quick trip, I left NY and headed back to the frigid cold of Minnesota (it has been below zero degrees every day since I got back!)

2013

2013 was such a fabulous year….we enjoyed traveling together, spending lots of time with family friends, and of course sneaking in a few fun activities as well.

I still have a hard time believing that we have been married 2 years already…and we are looking forward to 2014 and our 3rd year of marriage! I don’t really ‘do’ resolutions but there are a few things that I want to do for 2014. 1. Read the entire Bible in a year (and stay on track…I made it to 6 months in 2012)  2. Be intentional with my time  3. Read a book a week  4. Spend quality time with Bob each day

Google made this compilation video of some of my pictures from 2013 and I thought it turned out super cute!  (some of the pictures wouldn’t have been ones that I would have picked but still!)

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog!

Christmas 2013

I had to work the 23rd and 25th this year so we were able to celebrate with Bob’s family again this year which is always fun.

After a quick sleep on Christmas Eve, we went to a beautiful Christmas service at a church near Bob’s grandparents house before we headed to the whole ‘J’ family gathering.  We always get together at the ‘lodge’ for family get-togethers and it was beautifully decorated when we got there!

The puzzle was a big hit and I think there was always a few people working on it.

As always, the ping pong table got lots of use (although the little kids kind of took over this year!)

Wyatt with his grandpa Scott

The kids were literally counting down the minutes until they got to open gifts (Bob’s cousin’s kids)

And the opening started! I love to watch people open gifts, and kept turning each way to see everyone as people were scattered everywhere!

On Christmas Day, we celebrated with Bob’s parents, brother and girlfriend, other grandparents, and aunt and uncle but I didn’t take any pictures! We had a wonderful holiday and it was so nice to spend it with family.

I did just find one more picture of the two of us before we headed to church on Christmas Eve!
